Hawaii islands seem to be very exceptional in their geographical terms. Being the sole state in United States of America that is composed of the volcanic rock, the place of Hawaii is being pierced with extremely inspiring volcanoes which began developing for more than 70 million of years ago. Because of the Hawaii's volcanic origins, we can able to conclude that this country is significant.
So now we are going to tackle all about the volcanoes which make up the chain of Hawaii Island. Here they are:
Mauna Loa: This volcano encompasses the 85 percent of the total land base of Hawaii. In Hawaiian term, Mauna Loa means “Long Mountain” for the fact that it has the 13,681 feet tall when measured on its elevation on the sea level. Aside from being one of the tallest mountains worldwide, it is also known as being one of the active volcanoes in the world. During winter months, snowfall is experienced in Mauna Loa. This volcano first erupted in the year 1843 and its latest eruption was in way back April, 1984. Kohala: This volcano is beyond 500,000 years of age. It has the measurement of 5,480 feet when above the level of the sea Loihi: This is the youngest volcano among the volcanoes in Hawaii Kilauea: This volcano belongs also to the youngest volcanoes found in the world. It is located in Southeast region of Kilauea. Continuous lava is flowing coming from its cinder as well as spatter cone; that is why; this volcano is being still studied. Kilauea can mean “spewing” or in simpler words it can mean “much spreading”. Mauna Kea: This is known as the “White Mountain” in Hawaii. Mahukona: This is the subaqueous volcano which can be found in the Big Island. Hualalai: In the past, it had created a number of lava flows. In the year 1929, people were threatened that this volcano will erupt because of the series of earthquakes occurred on that very particular year. So, those are the names of volcanoes in Hawaii. |

Dormant Volcanoes
Volcanoes are extrusive volcanic features. There are three main types of volcanoes; one is active, the other is dormant and finally extinct. Dormant volcanoes are the ones that are not in any active volcanic state but geologists believe that they are capable of erupting in future. There is no particular timeframe used to classify dormancy as some may be dormant for centuries and others millenniums.
